3 Bedroom Rug Tips + New Master Bedroom Rug

New Master Bedroom Rug

We recently got a new rug for our master bedroom and I am in love with it! I normally would go for a rug that has more warm tones, but I wanted to get out of my comfort zone. I ended up going with THIS Multicolored rug from Loloi Rugs and I am so happy I did! (The size is a 7 X 9) I love the contrast it has against the rust curtains and white walls.

Bedroom Rug Placement

Having the rug only under the bottom 2/3 of the rug is a great way to get away with using a smaller, less-expensive rug or avoid overwhelming a small space. In this layout, nightstands should be placed fully on the floor behind the rug to make sure they’re level.

Bedroom Rug Materials and Styles

Our bedroom is our sanctuary. A place for us to relax and get let go of some of our stresses. The best bedroom rugs will prioritize comfort and your own personal style. Often times bedrooms are low-traffic, private space, which makes for perfect use of either plush or high-pile. Polypropylene and wool are both hard-wearing, durable, and soft rug materials perfect in this setting.

Remember to keep things interesting in your bedroom. You can do this by creating a contrast between your rug the rest of the décor in your room. For example, if you have solid bedding, it’s a good idea to choose a patterned rug or one with simple designs to help it pop. Try adding different textures to your decor to give your room more of a layered look.

Don’t Skip the Rug Pad

It’s easy to dismiss using a rug pad. They are an extra cost and can seem insignificant. However, this small detail can transform a good rug into a great rug. Rug pads help rugs from slipping and they also save your floors from damage.

If you use runners on the side of your bed, a rug pad will help ensure that you don’t slip on your rug getting out of the bed in the morning.

Rugs placed fully under your bed are less likely to slip but, a premium felt-and-rubber rug pad can still help prevent bunching and provide an extra level of comfort and noise absorption. I have found this to be true in our own room!
