This has been a project I have been putting off for months and maybe years… I wasn’t that confident in my sewing skills, so it was easy to forget about the cushions on our breakfast nook. I finally decided I needed to just try. Since I had my mom’s old sewing machine I figured why not! Making this DIY Bench French Cushion Mattress was easier than I ever imagined and the only thing I am mad about is that I didn’t do it sooner!

DIY Bench French Cushion Mattress
I wanted a luxurious look without being too stuffy which is why I went for this look. I love the mixture of the black velvet with the french mattress detailing. This makes for an extra cozy feel. I used THIS fabric. This project was easy for anyone willing to try, even if you aren’t experienced with sewing!
Tutorial
I follow this tutorial to a tee! It was so easy that I plan on doing it over and over again. The only thing I did differently was I did use a leather glove to protect my hand while using the upholstery needles.
Easy Chair Reupholstery
This part of the project maybe took ten minutes. I took the seats off the chair and using a staple gun I placed a similar fabric to THIS right over the existing fabric. I pulled all the edges and corners tight for a clean look.

This breakfast nook is one of the most used spaces in our home. We made the slat table base which you can find more details HERE.
