I try to treat my countertops every 3 to 4 months. I have gone as far as six months and it’s perfectly fine, I just end up using more product. Here is what they looked like before I treated them. I purchased these butcher block countertops from Ikea!
Here is a list of the materials, you will need.

I first start off by sanding the butcher block. I use a 60 grit sanding block to remove any stains from the top. This helps give the word a smooth finish and for the product to penetrate the wood.

Then I oil the wood. The instructions on the butcher block oil state you wanna put it on your rag however I just apply it right to the word and use a microfiber towel to rub it into the word. Make sure you go with the grain of the wood.
Wait 20 minutes and then remove the excess with a clean towel. Sometimes if it’s been a while since I’ve treated my butcher block countertops I notice that the wood absorbs all of the oil. I will reapply the oil until it leaves an excess for me to clean up.

The last step is to apply the conditioner the same way as the oil. The oil is to moisturize the wood while the conditioner acts as a sealant. After applying the conditioner you will notice how water won’t seep into the wood as easily helping look better for longer.
