I have put my Christmas tree in a basket the last few years, and it always turned out so cute! I’ve seen many people do this, so I decided to figure out a stable and easy way to make sure your tree in a basket never leans or falls over. P.S. I add all of my Christmas decor links on a sepreate blog post!

Easy DIY Christmas Tree Basket Stand
First what you’re gonna want to do is find an appropriate size basket. Depending on your tree, find one that is proportional. My tree is about 6 feet tall and the basket is 18 inches in diameter and 22 inches tall. I gathered links for a bunch of adorable large baskets that will work perfectly for your Christmas tree.

Stability
I think this next step is the most important! Find something heavy like bricks or rocks to put at the bottom of your basket. You want to put some weight at the bottom so your Christmas tree won’t fall over. I have done this trick for the last three years and I’ve never had a Christmas tree fall over. I usually only decorate on one side of the tree so the weight is usually only on one side and I still haven’t had a problem. This is the first year I have used a flocked tree and I love it!

After that, you’re going to want to find a couple of cake dummies. I used two. Make sure your cake dummies are the same diameter or smaller as your basket. If you can’t find them that diameter, use a blanket or towels to tuck around the Styrofoam in the basket making sure the Styrofoam does not move around.

Last what you’re going to want to do is take your Christmas tree and puncture the Styrofoam with the end of your Christmas tree pole. Shove the base right into the Styrofoam creating a tight hole. Some Styrofoam is more durable than others so you might have to use a bread knife to start a hole before you can do so.
Then lastly you can either use fake snow or fabric to cover up the Styrofoam and push your Christmas tree wherever you would like!
