Best Sectionals for Small Spaces
One of the most difficult things about living in a small space is finding perfect sized furniture. Since we live in a home of about 700 ft.² we have to be very intentional about each piece of furniture we bring into our home. For a long time we had two small chairs and a loveseat in our living room. However, I knew we could do better than that with a custom sectional sofa.
I would like to thank Jonathan Louis for sponsoring this post.

Small Corner Sectional Sofa
When looking for sectionals for small spaces, you want to focus on finding the right style, fabric, and size. What I love about my new sectional sofa is that I was able to customize every little detail down to the throw pillows to fit the needs of my home.
First, I went to the Jonathan Louis website and browsed their large selection of sofas. They have so many different styles and customizations. I really love the variety of the different styles they offer. I landed on the Leon sofa which has a modern, low-profile design. The cushions also are very plush and so the seating is a very soft, “sink into the seat” type of experience.
How to Buy
Jonathan Louis has a huge variety of sofas and fabrics to browse on their website and they work with retailers to sell their furniture. The best way to customize a beautiful sofa like mine is to find a dealer through their website and work with them on creating your custom piece. However, Jonathan Louis does sell custom pillows and fabric by the yard, which you can purchase directly from their website.
Modular Sofas for Small Spaces
After picking out the style of sofa, I focused on the configuration. This has to be one of my favorite things about the experience. They have so many different configurations that no matter the size of your room, you’ll find something that works for you and your space.
I decided to do a corner sectional with one side of the sectional sofa having an arm and the other side having no arm. Since the room is small, deciding to leave one arm off helped made the room feel more open and the sofa less bulky. The image below has the exact configuration I used for the Leon Sofa.
Fabric Swatches
I loved being able to pick out every detail on my new sectional sofa, especially choosing a fabric. Jonathan Louis makes this part of the process so incredibly easy. Online, I selected a few different sample swatches. I was able to touch and see how each fabric would work in my home. I think the best part of picking out the fabrics was that the swatches looked exactly the same online as they did in person.
The fabric I chose was Napa Storm. I love this fabric because it is extremely soft and I love how it is dark yet still cozy. While I was deciding on the fabric I would occasionally rub the swatches on my skin to get a good feel of how it would be to snuggle up on the couch. That’s what sold me on this one!
Custom Throw Pillows
The last thing I did was pick out custom pillows. I had so much fun doing this because there are so many different fabrics and sizes to choose from. I even got a cute round pillow!
When the pillows arrived I was extremely happy with the quality of the inserts. I am very particular about throw pillows and these pillows met every expectation. They are the perfect pillows to relax on while watching TV. I also love how these new pillows tie in my custom art collection. And yes! I did build that DIY picture ledge.
Apartment Size Sectional Sofa
Being able to find a sectional that fit my small space is a game-changer for this room! This living room went from a small seating area to an entertaining space! We can fit more friends comfortably in our home and the quality of the furniture exceeded my expectations. I loved having the option to customize our sectional sofa for our small room and it has made our home even more cozy and enjoyable to live in.
