DIY Marble Shelves with Gold Brackets

I’ve been working on my laundry room makeover for a couple of months and I knew I wanted to add a marble shelf somewhere to bring some luxe into this cozy space. I already had wood floating shelves in my laundry room closet so using marble was going to add another type of material to the space making it more interesting.

Where to Find Marble

While searching for marble I found an amazing trick to purchase budget-friendly marble for a project like this. Many flooring stores will have broken marble pieces they’re willing to sell for a fraction of the price. I was able to get four pieces of 6-inch marble for five dollars apiece saving me hundreds of dollars.

Wood and Marble

I wanted to use two materials for this shelf to create a cozy look while making it easy to install the shelf. I used a piece of wood and attached the piece of marble using a construction adhesive. I thought combining the two materials was a good way to give the shelf width and keeping it light enough to hang.

Shelf with Gold Brackets

Are used beautiful traditional gold brackets to hang the shelf in front of this window. When I went to Pinterest to get some inspiration for hanging a shelf in front of a window, of course, the only example I could find was this amazing picture from Joanna Gaines! I love the idea of a shelf in front of a window, especially in a small space.
