There is no denying that dried oranges have been trending this holiday season and there is a good reason why. They are festive, easy, adorable and will make your home smell amazing. That’s why I had to make a Dried Orange Garland this year.
Dried Orange Garland
This year I added faux dried oranges to my kitchen garland and I was happy how it turned out. After having so many of you tell me that you’ve dried oranges on your own, I had to give it a try. I was so surprised how easy it was! This year I am going to dry oranges every year from now on and make this a tradition.
I actually used Mini Halo Oranges because that is what I have on hand. (The more you get to know me, you’ll learn I hate wasting!) I sliced them about 1/4 an inch thick and laid them on a cookie rack. I set them in the oven at 170 degrees for about 6 hours turning them over every 45 minutes or so and just like that and they were done!
The next day I use an upholstery needle and yarn to string them into a garland and that was it. Now I have an adorable dried orange garland and my house smells amazing. I plan to take this garland up to Carter’s parent’s farm and find a nice place for it there. I love natural holiday decor and the farm is a perfect place for it.
Christmas Gift Wrapping
I also used the dried oranges while wrapping some of my Christmas gifts. This year I went with pom-poms and oranges. I had some cinnamon sticks on handed and I ended up using those as well.
I love going the extra mile when wrapping gifts. Something about getting a gift with all the extra fluff is memorable and thoughtful. Look for what you have around your house and get creative!
