Coming into 2020 (I know, I can’t believe it’s already the end of February either) I wrote down some goals for our home updates and where I would like to see this bungalow by the end of 2020. I am trying to take in the process of change here in our bungalow. When I talked about this on my Instagram a few weeks ago, someone commented, “Not slow, but intentional.” She totally got me. I am moving slow, but that’s because I am trying to make each decision intentionally. Here are our Bungalow Goals for 2020.
Patio
Well, this one is going to be easy, because it is already done! Carter and I finished this at the beginning of the year. We have used this space so much! I share all the details HERE.
ROSE GOLD CANDLE | SMALL VASE (SIMILAR) | GREY TEXTURED PILLOW (SIMILAR) | | STENCIL (SIMILAR) | CAFE LIGHTS | VISION GRILL | CHIMINEA (SIMILAR) | CUSHIONS (SIMILAR) | PATIO SET | SUNSHADE
Storage/Organization for Kitchen
Kitchen Storage-
Right now we only have a few cabinets in our kitchen. While this is currently working, I know we could be more efficient with our space. I plan to add a taller/bigger cabinet next to the breakfast nook. Currently, this one sits there.
We also thought about adding floating shelves, but ultimately decided more hidden storage space was a must – so, we are going with a cabinet.
CANDLE HOLDER | WOOD + WHITE PLANTER | DRESSER (SIMILAR)
Organizing the Kitchen
I also would love to begin using more glassware and less plastic. There are two reasons that I want to make this transition – reduce waste and save money! This year I have plans to find the perfect glass containers to store more “bulk” items and shop bulk. Do you think I can do it?
OIL DISPENSER | LABEL MAKER | WHITE VASE (SIMILAR) | JAR | PINK CART
Kitchen Blog Post
Carter and I remodeled our kitchen just a couple of months after moving in. I love to cook and spend time in the kitchen, so it was important for us to focus on this first. My goal is to write a blog post with all of the nitty-gritty details and post it by the end of next week. Come back next week to see if I kept my promise!
TEA KETTLE (SIMILAR) | FAUCET | WATERING CAN | KITCHEN AIDE | GOLD KNOBS | PAPER TOWEL HOLDER
Master Bedroom
This project is one that I am especially excited about. Carter and I moved into this house with no furniture. Before moving into the bungalow, we moved around so often that we made do with little to nothing. (You can do it!) So, when we moved here, I bought several cheap items off Craigslist like this dresser and made do. Since one of my goals, when we moved into this house, was to take my time with each space, I am in no rush!
Back to our master bedroom plans. I already have the design board done. If you want to learn how to make a design board, I talk about it HERE.
Room likes below, most of them are look-a-likes.
GREEN PILLOW | YELLOW PILLOW | FAN | LIGHT | DRESSER | RUG | MIRROR | BED FRAME | CABINET | BASKET | CHAIR
My hope is that Carter and I are going to start painting soon. If I could get the painting done in March, I would consider it a win for us. Between waiting on a few of these items arrive and tackling a few of these profit DIY styles, our bedroom won’t be finished for at least another month. On the bright side, we did add this chair last week and I am finally happy to have a resting place to throw all of my *not clean but also not dirty* clothes (let’s be real, we all have a spot for clothes like this).
Bathroom Quick Fix
Carter and I would love to have the bathroom completely gutted and remodeled, but we won’t be able to get to it until the end of the year, or next possibly next year. Until then, I will have to become a magician with a paintbrush. The way I see it, I don’t have to wait until the big remodel to start enjoying the space! My plans are to do a quick bathroom fix using mostly paint and decor.
Plan Bathroom Remodel
I would love to come up with a complete plan for when we are ready to start tackling the bathroom project. I have already made a design board which you can find HERE. But, I am already changing my mind!!! Only time can tell what direction I take with the bathroom (this is why an “intentional” approach, which I discussed above, is so important). How amazing is this bathroom inspo? I share all of my bathroom inspos on Pinterest. You can look through my board HERE.
Window Treatments
We still have the dusty old blinds that were here when we bought the place… I plan to add window treatments throughout the year as we move from room to room with projects.
BOOKSHELF | CHAIR | COUCH (SIMILAR) | RUG (SIMILAR) | PRINT | OTTOMAN
Add overhead lighting in the kitchen
We need to get an electrician out here to add overhead lighting above the sink and breakfast nook (Carter is willing to do pretty much anything himself, EXCEPT for when it involves electricity).
KITCHEN TABLE | KITCHEN AIDE | WHITE PILLOW | WHITE PLANTER | CHAIRS (SIMILAR)
Guest Bedroom
I am going to be completely honest with you – I have no idea where to start in this room! Being in a two-bedroom house, this room is going to have to be like the swiss-army knife of rooms. Extra storage, a guest bedroom, a study, possibly a future nursery! Right now, we have a trundle bed and desk in the room. I would love to come up with small hacks for the room. Carter wants this room to be multifunctional and add adult bunk beds . . . haha! That’s about as far as the conversation has gone. My only goal for this room is to grasp some sort of direction for it. I am sure I will be asking for your help soon.
For Carter and me, these goals are huge! All of these goals/projects will need to be done between working full time, graduating law school, studying for the bar and Carter starting his first job. We are excited to see what we can accomplish and to have you there while we do it. Cheers to our Bungalow Goals for 2020.
