Vintage Inspired Tinsel Christmas Tree

I am so glad that tinsel is making a comeback! This year I really wanted to do a modern vintage style Christmas tree so I knew adding a little bit of shiny tinsel was a must! My tinsel Christmas tree turned out so cute and has the perfect amount of vintage and modern touches.

Tinsel Garland for Christmas Tree

There are a few ways you can use tinsel on your Christmas tree. I purchased an iridescent tinsel garland. You can easily wrap your tree in the garland with the tinsel attached. I wanted a more retro look so I cut up the tinsel Garland into individual pieces and placed it all over our Christmas tree.

This Christmas tree is beautiful and looks so realistic! I can’t believe it’s not real.

Retro Tinsel Christmas Tree

When I think about retro-style Christmas trees, I think of lots of shimmer and fun colored lights. I normally opt for bright white lights on my Christmas tree but this year I did white lights plus a strand of colored lights! The colored lights are so nostalgic and I think this tree fits in perfectly with the rest of my holiday decor.

The combination of the white and colored lights gave my Christmas tree, the perfect amount of sparkle and fun! I always love putting my tree in a fun basket. I do this using floral Styrofoam, and it makes it so easy!

The lights and the tinsel alone gave the tree a fun retro feel. So for the ornaments., I chose some beautiful, modern, bright-colored bulb ornaments. These ornaments sell out every year and I’m so glad I got my hands on them.

Vintage Christmas Decorations

I did add a few random ornaments to the tree for a more eclectic look. I felt like unique ornaments worked with modern colored ornaments.

Our stockings hanging up are a mix-and-match of different items I’ve collected over the years. The two big boucle stockings are from Anthropologie and the sequin stockings are from the dollar spot at Target. I also love the felt ornaments with our initials on the stockings. It looks extra cozy.

This year I couldn’t get over all of the fun, cute Christmas bows so decided to add some to my tinsel Christmas tree. I love that the velvet bows on this tree match the garland in the kitchen.

This really pulled together the whole tree, and I think it turned out exactly what I was hoping for, fun and whimsical. I topped the tree off with a bright shiny star and altogether this vintage-inspired tinsel Christmas tree looks perfect!
