Entryway Room Makeover with Faux Marble Tile

Giving this room a makeover has been on my list ever since we first moved in! It’s the first room you walk into when entering the front of our home. I think it’s so important to have the very first thing you see in and out of your home make you smile as it sets the tone for the rest of your space.

We put it off for a while because, to be quite honest, we didn’t really know where to start. We call this entryway room our Florida room, and for a long time we had it decorated with hanging lights and rugs but we knew we wanted to go another direction! All of the materials in the room were very dingy and basic. There was plywood on the ceiling and walls and super old tile on the floor.

Floor Tile

When deciding on all of the materials for this room, we knew we had to think “durability.” That’s why we landed on this Marazzi Epic Clean antimicrobial tile. It looks like marble but has a perfect grip and was a fraction of the price! I also love that it’s porcelain because it’s resistant to scratches and chips!

This style has antimicrobial features, which help to fight stains and odor-causing bacteria, making it the perfect tile to use in the entryway room. Especially because our entryway room sees a lot of Florida rain and mud!

We laid the tile ourselves and used Thinset mortar and premixed grout to finish the job.

Walls and Ceiling

The walls and ceilings before had cheap plywood. We gave the walls a really good clean and put up beadboard panels. I really wanted to incorporate other design elements from around my home, so beadboard was the perfect option since we also have it in our living room!

As for the ceiling, we used the same concept for the ceiling. The ceiling treatment was the same as in our laundry room, so using it in this entryway room was a perfect way to make our tiny home look more cohesive! I love these faux skinny lap tongue and groove wood planks. They are very light, so using them on the ceiling was a breeze with our brad nailer.

Paint

We gave the whole room a fresh coat of white paint. I also primed the French doors and painted them with my favorite neutral paint, Gravestone by Behr!

Decor

A lot of the items in this room were thrifted, but some of my favorite home decor items that I found were these cute black and white striped pillows and the woven rattan bench. I painted this thrifted mid-century modern piece blue and used silver hardware! I love mixing metals. I upcycled the rattan sofa and it looks so much cuter now! I also love the look of this flush mount light in here. Adds the perfect touch!

Overall I’m so happy with the end result of this room! It’s time to go shopping and find the perfect things to hang on the walls and home decor accessories.
