How to Style Functional Glass Cabinets in Kitchen

Styling shelves has never been a strong suit of mine. I want to say it’s because I haven’t had enough experience in my small house. Everything that goes on the shelf needs to serve a functional purpose. Living in a tiny space means you can’t give up storage space for decor only! This is how I styled my glass cabinets in my kitchen using functional everyday items!

CABINET | PINK BIN | TABLE | GLASS JARS | RATTAN BASKET | WHITE DINNERWARE | MINI GLASSES | BLACK CART

Sliding Door Cabinet

First I want to give a small house hack with sliding door cabinets. If you live in a small home or are trying to add more storage in a tight spot, opt for furniture with sliding doors. This helps optimize the space. This cabinet is from IKEA.

Color Palette

Try sticking to only a few colors! I focused on pinks, whites, blues, and neutrals! If you want to add more interest, add some natural materials like a wicker basket or wood bowl!

Dishware Placement

While reading blogs and looking through Pinterest, I learned that you want to place items that you use most on the bottom two shelves. I decided to place our most used dishware on those shelves so I had easy access. Other items that I use on a weekly basis I placed in harder-to-reach spots!

Grouping Items

Grouping items together is important! This helps keep the look more collective and organized. You can also add books or other items to add interest in height like I did under these small glasses.

Functional vs Decor

I have a really hard time displaying items that aren’t pretty to look at! It’s my thing! So finding dishware, bowls, and containers for cooking is the best way to make your functional items also count as decor! I love using big glass jars for my everyday baking ingredients and having a variety of stacked bowls for an eclectic look.

Use of Space Above

Don’t forget to use every square inch of your space! I added several different baskets on the top of the glass cabinet to store extra food like rice and canned goods!
