It was a blast working on this dining room renovation! We met this couple a while back and learned that the husband loves to cook. We thought, why not revamp their dining space? Now, it’s a super cozy spot where they can enjoy his delicious meals!

Is Green a Good Color for a Dining Room?
Green is a great color for creating a moody but mellow dining area. When I sat down with my friends to figure out what direction they were thinking for this space, the first thing they asked for was a green paint color!
That was not going to be a problem because I love green! I went with a beautiful deep green called Amazon Jungle. Because there is so much natural light in this dining room, I was able to go with darker colors which was a fun switch-up for me.

Green Beadboard Walls
We decided to wallpaper the top half of the dining room and add a beadboard wall feature on the bottom half. I am no stranger to beadboard projects. This time we had to use liquid nails to attach the bead board because the walls were made of concrete. It wasn’t difficult! This would be a really good option if you don’t have a brad nailer on hand. If you are looking to purchase a brad nailer I shared a list of all the tools I would have to start your own DIY projects.
Dining Room Wallpaper Texture
Unfortunately, there was a lot of texture on the walls so we ended up skim-coating the walls before wallpapering. I was very nervous about this step but after we were done, I was surprised just by how easy it actually was!
We used a roller to apply the skim coat material and a squeegee to smooth it out! We ended up doing three coats which made the walls smooth enough to apply the floral wallpaper.
I do recommend having relatively smooth walls when trying to use wallpaper. If your walls are not perfectly smooth, opt for a darker wallpaper, this will help hide the imperfections.
Floral Wallpaper in Green Dining Room
I presented a few wallpaper options to the wife and let her pick out her favorite! Her choice was my favorite as well and so we’re both so happy with how it turned out.
I used the wallpaper as inspiration to help pick out the right shade of green. After getting a bunch of sample swatches from Home Depot and laid them against the wallpaper to see which paint color would look best.
Multiple paint colors would have worked, but it really depends on the overall style and energy you want from the space. I went with a bold green because that felt like a perfect fit for them!
This bold green color also looks adorable with all the gold accents in the furniture. The two contrast perfectly making this green dining room with wallpaper feel so inviting!
How do you decorate a room with patterned wallpaper?
When decorating the green dining room with wallpaper I really wanted to focus on making sure the other patterns in the room were large. Between the wallpaper and the bright green paint, I really focused on making sure the rest of the design was complementing not competing.
Curtains and Patterned Wallpaper?
For the curtains, I went with a large grid pattern in black and white. The white curtains really softened up the room and I just love the pattern-on-pattern elements. These curtains were floor-length, but I decided to cut them short. Typically my rule is to place curtains high and wide, but since this window was so large, I opted for mounting the curtains on the inside of the window and cutting them short to make the room feel a little more intimate.
Dining Room Furniture + Rug + Lighting
I love the glass light pendant over the table and these adorable chairs really gave the green dining room with wallpaper the perfect cozy feel.
All of the decor and furniture in the room really pulled the final design together!
