Easy Updates in Small Kitchen

Kitchen Updates Before and After

We updated our kitchen about four years ago when we first moved into our small bungalow. It was one of the first projects we did and since then we have done small updates here and there. There are a few more small updates we wanted to add to our eclectic kitchen to make it more functional and modern.

How to Update a Small Kitchen

If it’s not in your plans to renovate your entire kitchen, there are easy small updates you can do. For example, in our small kitchen last weekend we added a cup rack, kitchen bar rail, and a new gorgeous kitchen faucet for our sink.

Wall Mug Rack for Small Kitchen

Hanging a mug rack in our kitchen is a game-changer and essential for saving space! I can’t believe I waited so long to do this. I know this might seem like a little feat to some but I now have a whole shelf in my cupboard to store other items! Big win for small living!

I love this pink metal shelf underneath for storage as well. It holds all my favorite cookbooks, bowls, and dish rags.

Updating Kitchen Faucet

Updating your kitchen faucet can make a huge difference in your kitchen. It’s an easy job that you can do yourself and it’s also cost-effective. Makes a huge impact without spending a lot of money on tearing down walls or breaking down cabinets.

Kitchen Faucet Ideas

Choosing a kitchen faucet can be challenging. I wanted this faucet to really pull the space together, so I looked to my other fixtures in the kitchen to decide which direction I wanted to go. My ceiling fixture was stainless steel so I thought it would pair well together in the space. Another important design aspect for my space was making sure that the faucet was an appropriate size for my small kitchen sink, but also big enough to make a statement.

Kitchen Faucet Style

When it comes to deciding on your kitchen faucet there are so many different styles to choose from! Where do you start? My kitchen has an eclectic style so I really wanted a kitchen faucet that tells the same story. That’s why I decided on a Single-Handle Spring Kitchen Sink Faucet in the stainless steel finish. It has clean lines, coupled with hints of a reclaimed look which lead to a balanced touch in the kitchen. I pulled together a few of my favorite kitchens faucets from Amazon! You can find all the sources HERE.

Adding Decor and Art by Sink

Another budget-friendly idea to really cozy up your kitchen is adding fun decor and art by your sink. I love finding pieces that are functional for everyday use as well as beautiful! I stack all of my counter essentials on a cute marble cake stand and I always love adding a fun piece of colorful art to have a pop of color.

Upgrade Your Kitchen Without Renovating

When it’s not an option to tear down your kitchen and build it back up… work with what you already have! I built this small feature wall above my oven and I absolutely love it! It adds a little touch of character and I love that I can store my everyday items on the shelf. I used a faux skinny lap and 2 three by ones to make a shelf.

Small Kitchen Rail and Shelf

Finally, I was able to splurge on a brass kitchen rail. For a long time I had a piece of PVC pipe spray-painted gold and it worked just fine. At the time it wasn’t in my budget to buy a nice kitchen rail, but last week we finally added one and wow, does it make all the difference!
