Here she is in all of her glory! Midge is a 1967 26-foot Airstream Outlander. We found this vintage Airstream for sale on the Facebook Marketplace and are planning to renovate the entire thing from start to finish!
A Look Inside the Airstream
This is what it currently looks like on the inside of the 1967 Airstream Outlander. The couple we purchased it from was planning to renovate it themselves and decided not to move forward with the project. That’s why it’s already been stripped out and has new hardwood flooring.
We plan to strip out the flooring, remove the subfloor, tear down the walls and insulation, and replace all of the electrical work. Really bringing it down to the bare bones and starting with a fresh slate.
Starting from Scratch
This way we will be able to check the frame and the entire Airstream to make sure it’s safe to pull behind a vehicle.
As of right now, we know that the Airstream’s frame and body are in very good condition! It does not leak when it rains and pulling it to our house was a breeze.
However, we still think we need to strip out all the old parts and rebuild them to make the inside look shiny and new! I love the idea of a vintage Airstream Outlander frame with an updated modern interior!
Airstream Interior Plans
We’re still working on a layout of the inside… but we already know we’re going to have to redo the plumbing as well, which is just another reason to strip it down.
Right now we’re working hard on getting our backyard to a place where we can work on the 1967 Airstream Outlander with ease. We laid out all of our plans and we’re excited for the next few months ahead! Make sure you are following along on Instagram for real-time updates and more!
