There’s nothing like doing a quick bedroom makeover. Taking a few days to do a quick vertical shiplap paneling wall feature, paint and new home decor can really transform any space. This bedroom belongs to my friends and neighbors Jacob and Elyse. Earlier this year, I made over their living room and they were so fun and easy to work with that we had to reunite for a bedroom makeover.
I would like to thank Home Depot and Behr Paint for sponsoring this blog post.

Bedroom Before Vertical Shiplap Paneling
The before had good bones like a thrifted dresser that we ended up painting black and adding gold knobs. The paint color of the dresser is Private Black. I sanded the dresser and did a quick coat of primer before painting it black. After talking with the homeowners, they expressed that they would love to brighten up the room and make this a space in their home to relax and meditate.
Say no more because you know I love a cozy space.
Bedroom After Vertical Shiplap Paneling
Shiplap Paint Color Ideas
We decided to add vertical shiplap paneling to the back wall behind the bed for interest. This wall feature only took about an hour to install and really gives the space the extra detail we were looking for. You know I love a good wall feature!
When deciding on a color, we wanted something slightly warm and calming. We ended on a color from Home Depot‘s new designer collection with Behr Paint called Gratifying Gray.
Gray Paint Home Depot
There are so many different gray paint colors and the reason I chose Gratifying Gray is because it was thoughtfully curated by top interior designers. Behr’s new designer collection has the perfect top coats of neutral and accent colors.
I love the idea of having a collection picked from designers because you won’t have to overthink picking a paint color anymore!
DIY Vertical Shiplap Paneling
After getting the vertical shiplap paneling up, we trimmed out the top and bottom. We then finished painting the room. We painted the entire room with Gratifying Gray in the Behr Dynasty Paint and all of the trim in Ultra Pure White. Jacob and Carter trimmed out the windows together and they look amazing!
Jacob also used my DIY door trim molding tutorial on their closet door. I think it’s little details like these that make all of the difference!
Fluffy Bedding
My favorite part about making over a bedroom is selecting the bedding! Most of the details from this makeover are from Home Depot.
Did you even know that they offered such beautiful bedding? I am in love with pairing crisp white sheets, and a waffle quilt, with a fun floral pattern. I already had the turmeric duvet on hand, which gives this room the perfect pop of color.
Bedroom Furniture
Between the white metal bed frame and rattan overhead light, this room has so many different elements creating one cohesive look.
The extra details in this room are so fun like this patterned armchair. It was so easy to put together and added a perfect classic touch to the room.
Bedroom Home Decor
The poufs and the rug are both neutral in color but have a bunch of texture in the woven fabric. I always try to find items that are going to give the room a layered collective look.
Window Treatments
We opted for a white bamboo shade on the back wall, and the other window has a shade plus curtains! The curtains have little tassels at the top which is such a cute detail!
Overall this vertical shiplap paneling bedroom makeover turned out adorable!
