This idea came to me and I was so obsessed with it that I executed within a week. Since we moved into our home four years ago, this narrow wall/walkway has been so difficult to style. I’m so excited that I finally figure out the perfect solution by using a picture rail!
Creative Ways to Hang Pictures
There are so many different ways two showcase pictures or art in your home. The reason why this wall has been difficult to style is that this is a walkway to our other bedrooms. This means, that no furniture can be pushed up against the wall leaving it a blank space in our home.
I decided to add a beadboard wall feature with some cute hooks. This allowed for some everyday storage like backpacks and jackets while keeping the wall interesting.
I painted the beadboard last week this beautiful mauve color. Painting the beadboard already added some adorable character but I still felt like the space above the shelf was a lot of dead space when looking at the room as a whole.
Picture Rail Hanging System
When I shared I wanted to do a picture rail, a bunch of my Instagram followers voiced that they felt like it would be too cluttered so that’s why I opted for an acrylic picture rail.
Acrylic is a great way to keep any space looking clean and modern.
Picture Rails on Walls
Picture rail systems are such a fun and interesting way to display pictures. I used gold wire and clips to hang the pictures. This kept the extra hardware to a minimum helping the space look refined and not cluttered.
DIY Picture Rail
After researching, I found a way to make your own acrylic picture rail for a fraction of the price! Here are all the links for a DIY picture rail. These mounts are plastic plumbing pieces that I would spray paint gold or use rub and buff! Total this makes one 60-inch rail for around $25!
Overall I think it turned out so cute and I love that I’ll be able to switch out the pictures easily! I have a few more small ideas for this living room so make sure you follow along!
