DIY Mailbox Project Makeover

This mailbox project was long overdue. When we moved into our house four years ago, the mailbox was functioning fine but needed a facelift. We didn’t touch it and over the last couple of years, our mailbox has been hit a time or two. Every time it fell over, we put it back resulting in a tiny short mailbox. We finally decided to pay a little attention to this part of our home and it makes me so happy every time we drive up to our house.

Pinterest Mailbox Ideas

There were so many cute ideas on Pinterest for mailbox projects. Since we live close to the beach I wanted to do something fun and colorful! I’ve really been on a purple kick so purple paint it is! This purple paint color I created by mixing two other paint colors together. Its name is Blushing Berry and you can get the barcode scan on this post

I wanted the mailbox to be large and so we opted for a metal white mailbox with a magnetic lid. I know my mailman is happy to see me replace our old dingy mailbox that hardly opened! This is a great mailbox and it can fit a lot of items! This is the wood post we used for the mailbox project!

I think this project turned out so fun and now I will smile every time I pull into our driveway!

Mailbox curb appeal

A little detail goes a long way when it comes to curb appeal which is why I used cast iron numbers with gold scallop detailing. It really just brings the whole look together and makes it unique.

I think the most important part about making a mailbox area look put together is the landscaping on the ground. We kept it simple with matching rocks that we have used in other places in our yard and foxtail ferns. We use two bigger foxtail ferns in the back and smaller ones in the front. Having different sizes of plants creates enough interest and doesn’t make it look so uniform!
