Our tiny little bungalow has the quirkiest entry room. Most people in Florida refer to it as the “Florida Room.” But it’s really a screened in porch with windows. I know, really confusing! To get to the inside of our home, you enter through the front door to this entry/screened in porch area. Then walk through French doors to get to the main part of the house.
Last summer I spent a few months renovating our entry room with new tiles and wall features. You know me… I love a good wall feature! At the time, I didn’t have the budget to purchase new furniture or decorations. So, I did with what I had and it actually turned out super cute! Here is a before and after of our screened in porch.
Fast forward a couple months… and now I am ready to add pieces that really bring the room together.
HANGING PLANTER | CURTAIN ROD | CURTAINS | ROUND RATTAN TRAY | SWING CHAIR | BOOKSHELF (SIMILAR) | GOLD FRAME | WHITE VASES | PEACE SIGN | JUTE RUG | RUG | LIGHTS
Patio Swing Chair
I have been wanting this swing chair for so long! This is the swing chair of my dreams and will fit perfectly in the screened in porch. I love the washed rattan I think this style fits perfectly with our beach bungalow vibes. The bamboo wood is going to look so cute next to the barrister bookcase I recently painted avocado green.
Screened in Porch Ideas
I want to add a lot of elements to this room so the plan is to add texture on texture on texture! First starting with layered rugs. I have a thing for layering rugs… I think it makes the space so cozy! I like to start with a natural jute rug and then add some type of vintage rug on top! This bedroom I found on Pintrest is so dreamy! I love the layered rugs with the black accents.
I am also going to add a few new items like windowpane curtains and and fun pillows! I really love this basket weave pillow from Pottery Barn.
Best Outdoor String Lights
Last thing I’m going to change is the outdoor string lights. I love having string lights in our screened in porch and we turn them on every night. However, the black string lights that are currently up are too busy for the space and hang too low. I found some cute white globe lights that will hang tight to the ceiling and not draw as much attention!
This porch done by Lolly Jane is so cute and I love how she used white string lights against a white ceiling.
I’ll be posting this screened in porch makeover on my Instagram so make sure you follow me there.
