Last year we were able to finish so many awesome projects around our Bungalow and 2024 is going to be no different! The projects we focused on in 2023 were projects that weren’t all so glamorous but needed to be done before we could start working on the fun stuff! Carter built us a huge deck, we finished lots of fun home makeovers, plus we purchased a vintage Airstream and poured a concrete pad to park it on! This means jumping into 2024, we have a lot of great projects around our house screaming our names.
AirStream
Starting with THE project everyone seems most excited about. The vintage Airstream! We bought a vintage Airstream on a whim last March, knowing that we weren’t going to be able to renovate it until later in the year. Like many projects, this renovation has been pushed to 2024. Between getting a concussion in April and breaking my foot in October… starting such a big project was too overwhelming for me. Here’s to a healthier 2024 and a super fun reno!
The plan for the Airstream renovation is to break the project down on paper step-by-step and then jump in and learn as we go!
We are going to give ourselves the month of January to do all of the appropriate research for the project and the goal is to start the actual demo in February! We anticipate this project will take us the entire year. Like all of our projects, we are excited to get it done, but we don’t like to rush the process just to check it off a list. We enjoy learning and doing it right even if that means it takes us longer and we have to redo parts of the projects.
One reason why I’m giving ourselves the entire year to work on this project is because we have several other projects we want to accomplish. If we only worked on the Airstream full-time, we could probably be done in 4 to 6 months, but with other projects in mind plus the grueling, hot summer months in Florida… We’re hoping to have the Airstream project done by Thanksgiving!
Front/Side Yard
Another main focus this year will be cleaning up our front and backyard. We want to put pavers and a fence in our side yard that leads to our backyard. Now that we have a concrete pad for the Airstream, we can re-landscape that portion of our yard without worrying about being dug up again anytime soon.
Get Plans for Guest House and Pool
Last year we shared our plans for our backyard, which included a guest house and pool! We’ve already made some headway talking with contractors and starting the plans but, we have already run into several very typical roadblocks in the planning process. We hope to have the final plans done for the guest house and pool sometime this year! Can’t wait to share more of that with you soon!
The Backyard
We have a pretty decent-sized backyard compared to our house size, and we are beyond ready to utilize it! Carter built a composite deck last year which we already love! And this year, we are going to add…
- Pergola
- Outdoor Kitchen
- Furnish Deck
- Garden
- Replace Shed
- Landscape Yard
YES, that’s a lot of stuff! Crossing fingers we get it all done! We’ve been going back and forth on whether or not to landscape the yard. Since realizing that the guesthouse and pool plans are going to take longer than we originally planned, we decided to go ahead and do some landscaping in the meantime.
Primary Bedroom
Inside our bungalow, I want to do a fun and quick primary bedroom makeover. Since we’ve moved in, everything in our primary bedroom is a collection of unintentional pieces that just ended up there. I’d really love to design and execute a primary bedroom makeover!
Makeovers
And of course, we still plan to do lots of makeovers in other people’s homes this year! Last year we did a really fun green dining room, and medical office and we already have plans to share a kitchen remodel at the beginning of this year.
Which leads me to share something really exciting with you! We are opening the opportunity for room makeovers for our local followers! If you live in the St. Petersburg, Florida area and want to be considered… fill out the Google form here!!!
